Year 6 – Hawthorn

Class Teacher: Mrs Nixon

Welcome to Year 6 – Hawthorn Class

Year 6 is a challenging but fun year. Through a combination of the right attitude to learning, hard work and determination (from the staff as well as the children!) we hope to ensure that children make as much progress as possible and, of course, do well in their SATs. We have planned a range of exciting and stimulating topics for children which should ensure they develop a real enthusiasm for learning. During the Autumn term we will be studying the Victorians through looking at three significant Victorians and investigating whether they were heroes or villains. In the Spring term we will be learning about ‘Trash’ and in the Summer term our topic is ‘Arabian Nights’.

Following SATs we will be taking the children on our annual residential trip to Nell Bank, which is a wonderful opportunity for them to experience survival training and participate in new activities. Having led the residential for the last four years I can honestly say it is the highlight of my year, spending time with the children in the outdoors really means we get to know them well!

SATs will take place 14th -17th May 2018.
