Year 4 residential

9th March 2018

Dear Parents & Carers

We are reviewing our range of residential trips in school following feedback from parents and rising costs and as a result the pattern of residentials will be changing. Instead of children attending a residential trip in both Year 5 and Year 6 they will go in Year 4 and Year 6. I am looking at the transition arrangements and as it directly affects you and your children I would be really grateful for your thoughts on how we do this and I have outlined 2 choices below:

A: We could run a residential trip for your children when they move into Year 5 next year and then another for them in Year 6 (which is the current model). Based on current providers I would estimate that the combined cost of the 2 trips would be between £400 and £500 per pupil.

B: We could run only 1 residential trip for the children who are currently in Year 4 which would mean they would only go when they are in Year 6. Based on current costs I would estimate the cost of this single trip to be about £250.
