Message from Mr Davison – 8th March 2018

8th March 2018

Dear Parents & Carers

I am sorry for the disruption to school today due to the weather. My original plan was to fully open school (albeit later than usual to allow people extra time to reach the site as safely as possible). However during my journey to school I started to receive information from both staff and parents and it became clear that many, if not all, roads had remained untreated overnight making driving conditions challenging and hazardous. It also became clear that many of the teachers within school were struggling to make any progress towards reaching school. As a result of this and reports of the local driving conditions I took the decision to close to ensure the safety of everyone.

I would like to thank everyone for their patience today and to all the parents who provided updates on Facebook about the local conditions. This was very helpful and I am extremely grateful for the updates as without them I would not have known that the roads around Sandy Lane were very difficult to pass as well as a road closure (the Twines) due to an accident. All of these collated updates meant that I had a good range of information about the local conditions before making my decision.

I hope everyone who travelled had a safe journey and school will be open tomorrow as usual weather permitting.

John Davison
